Sitz Bulls - Known for their Superior Genetic Female Base. Don't miss our photo gallery

Welcome;

2012 will certainly be a year to remember! In our area we went from May 29th to October 10 without any appreciable measurable amount of precipitation, high temperatures and fear of fire. Even with all these items present we have never seen a time where there is more enthusiasm and opportunity in the cattle business.

Cow numbers are down to the lowest point in many, many years with the highest feeder cattle prices in history. Yes we believe we are in for some good times for the cow-calf producer who raises the right kind of cattle; those being the efficient, fast growing, easy-fleshing ones that can still survive drought and tough winters all throughout the land. Here at Sitz Angus we have always strived to raise cattle that will survive and make money for the commercial cattle producer and go on and make money in the feedlot; after all isn't that what the cattle business is about?

We have kept performance records on our cattle for 49 years. With the wide use of Artificial Insemination, ultrasound EPDs, embryo transplant, and DNA we are in the information age of the cattle business; you have more tools than ever to help you in making your genetic selection. Combining these with a cowman's eye can take you to the future.

This year we are selling 450 Angus bulls and 200 commercial bred heifers right out of the registered herd predominantly A.I. bred to top Sitz bulls that are proven and up and coming sires. We invite you to come and take a look at this years offering as this years set of bulls is the most even we have ever sold. They work for us and they will work for you.

The 2-Year Old bulls at Sitz Angus Ranch are developed with the commercial cattlemen in mind! We wean the bull calves onto pastures in the fall and they are developed on grass from October 1 through November 15. At that time they are put in growing lot and fed a 2-2.5-lb/day average gain high roughage diet until the end of May. They are turned out on grass and mineral until September 20, at which time they are brought in and put on a high roughage ration with a managed gain of 2-2.5 lb/day. This management process insures soundness and longevity. Through this entire process the bulls are weighed 7 times and undergo the following management practices: ultrasound carcass testing, semen testing and scrotal measurements and PAP testing as well as being visually appraised and scored.

We take great pride in the maternal values we have developed in our cowherd! The Sitz Angus Ranch cowherd is managed for efficiency! The starting calving date on our cowherd is February 15. The cows are calved out and pairs are moved into grazing pastures. All of the cows are A.I. bred on grass for one heat cycle and turned out with top end sires for clean-up. The cows as well are pastured on forest permits 90 miles south of the Ranch; where they are ultrasound pregnancy check in July. They will be brought home in November and winter on grasses until the end of January-with the older cows getting the tougher country and the heifers and first-calvers getting the better country.

A sincere thank you to all of our customers; past, present and future, for your support and confidence in our program. Whatever degree of success we have had over the years can be attributed to the confidence and trust of the many satisfied repeat customers we have. It is gratifying to see so many of you come back year after year to purchase your seedstock from Sitz Angus Ranch.

For Better Years Ahead;

Sincerely,
The Sitz Families
